High Trees Barn - Urgashay – March 2024 – Sept 2024
The works on this property were carried out following a freak flood to the area in the April of 2023.
The property, a converted barn was completely washed out damaging the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living area
DSB tendered for the initial clean up and strip out getting the property ready for drying.
Whilst the drying process was underway, we tendered for the re-instatement works which midway a new loss assessor was instructed setting back the originally planned start date, we were fortunate to be successful for the re-instatement works.
Works
The works involved the following:
- Replacement Timber Internal barn doors
- New porcelain tiling throughout the whole property
- Construction of new fireplace and installation of new woodburning stove
- Dry Ice blasting to damaged stonework
- Internal refurbishment to walls, including upgrading insulation, boarding and plastering
- New kitchen with built in appliances
- Partial replacement of electrical and heating systems inc. new oil-fired boiler
- Full re-instatement to 3no modern bathrooms – including ensuites
- Decoration throughout the whole property.
- External decorations to affected area
- Drainage repairs

DSB Comments
This was a project from the start we at DSB wanted to secure, having met the policy holders and worked with them during the strip out works, it was a job that really ticked the “DSB Challenge boxes” and one we wanted to get our teeth into…
Seeing as the flood had caused severe levels of damaged the policy holders were given the chance to put their spin on what went back it and the attention to detail on the little finishing touches was handled perfectly by the site manager and the team exceeding all the expectations come handover.
To see this one completed at the end whilst looking back over the journey we had been on with the policy holder over a cuppa in their summer house made this one all worthwhile, A challenging one, but one we thoroughly enjoyed.
